What's included

A short list, because the point of this place is mostly what it doesn't have.

Farm breakfast

A hot breakfast each morning, made from what the valley grows.

Wood-burning fireplaces

Six rooms have their own; the rest share the parlor hearth.

Free wifi

Works everywhere, including the porch, though the signal gets politely weaker on the trails.

Pet friendly

Four rooms welcome dogs. Let us know when you book.

Free parking

On-site parking for every room, plowed all winter.

Soaking tubs

Two rooms have deep soaking tubs, listed in the room details.

Trails from the door

Three miles of marked trail start at the porch steps.

Small weddings & gatherings

The barn holds up to forty for a weekend buyout.

In the hollow and around it

A few of the places guests ask about most.

Sterling Pond Trail

A moderate 4-mile round trip to an alpine pond. Trailhead is a six-minute drive.

Stowe Mountain Resort

Fifteen minutes away. We keep a rack of trail maps at the front desk.

Stowe Village

Shops, galleries and a Sunday farmers market, ten minutes down the hollow road.

Sugarhouse tours

A neighboring sugarhouse runs tours and tastings in late winter.

Village coffee roaster

Small-batch roaster in the village; they supply our breakfast coffee too.

Covered bridges

Two historic covered bridges within a short drive, good for a slow afternoon.

From recent stays

★★★★★

We asked for a late checkout and they just said 'of course, stay as long as you like.' That's the whole place in one sentence.

Hannah & Pete, Boston
★★★★★

Woke up to snow on the tamaracks and a fire already going in the parlor. Hard to leave.

Marcus D.
★★★★★

The Hearth Suite fireplace alone is worth the trip. Breakfast was the best we had in Vermont.
